On 6 November 2024 at the USSOCOM HQ Executive Business Room, USSOCOM will conduct a hybrid virtual and in-person conference with O-6 and above Command Teams (Commanders and Command Senior Enlisted Leaders)/their respective command surgeons/behavioral health officers. The conference will be focused on preservation of the force, reinforcing the 1st SOF Truth, “Humans are more important than Hardware,” with an emphasis on behavioral health and mental resiliency.  The purpose of the event is to conduct intensive discussion and examination of the state of the behavioral health within the USSOCOM Enterprise to increase the awareness of behavioral health trends within the formations, emphasize importance of leader engagement as it pertains to cultural health, provide behavioral health and resiliency tools available to all USSOCOM members, and community resources designed to support recovery and rehabilitation of USSOCOM Service Members.
The focused single day event with O-6 and above Command Teams, will set the stage with Dr. Phil Stutz, MD, providing mental health tools to the audience.  The day will then highlight current research in the behavioral health sphere, focusing on the SOF community.  The day will also highlight testimonials from SOF warfighters who have sought mental health treatment. The intended end-state is a shared understanding of the importance of mental resiliency and behavioral health within the USSOCOM formation.  Participants will be able to leave with tools to improve resiliency, identify signs and symptoms of behavioral health issues within their own formations, and how to access to premier behavioral health treatment programs available to SOF.
